Block 37 Station Open-Cut Tunnel Connections –

A joint venture with Kiewit Construction Co., to connect the CTA Red Line and Blue Line subways by open-cut tunneling through "superstation" at Block 37, 108 N. State Street (station construction by others). The connection will decrease the travel time from downtown to O'Hare and Midway airports by approximately twenty minutes each. Project also includes replacement of approximately eighteen thousand half-ties on the Blue and Red Lines to eliminate slow zones.
